Chi-Town for Free: Fun Activities Without Spending a Dime

As I stepped out of the airport, I was greeted with a chilly breeze that tickled my nose and reminded me that I was in Chicago, the Windy City. Although the temperature wasn't too low, I knew that the wind would make it feel colder than it was. Nevertheless, I was excited to explore this magnificent city.

One of the things that I love about Chicago is that there are so many free things to do for families and couples. It's a great city to explore without breaking the bank. From the parks to the museums to the public art, there's always something to see and do.

As I wandered around the city, I couldn't help but notice the stunning architecture. The buildings were tall and impressive, and I could see the reflection of the sun shimmering on their glass surfaces. One of my favorite free things to do in Chicago is to take an architecture tour. You can do this by foot, bike, or boat, and it's a great way to see the city from a different perspective.

Another must-visit attraction is Millennium Park. This is where you'll find the famous Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as "The Bean." This massive reflective structure is a fun spot to take selfies and see the city skyline reflected in its surface. Additionally, there are plenty of concerts, movies, and events that take place in the park throughout the year.

If you're looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, head to Lincoln Park Zoo. This 35-acre park is home to over 1,000 animals from around the world, and it's completely free to visit. The zoo is open year-round, so you can visit in any season and see a variety of animals, including giraffes, lions, and polar bears.

Finally, if you're a lover of art, you won't want to miss the Art Institute of Chicago. Although there's a fee to enter, you can visit the museum for free on Thursday evenings from 5-8pm. Here, you'll find a massive collection of art from around the world, including famous pieces by Monet, Van Gogh, and Picasso.

In conclusion, if you're visiting Chicago and looking for free things to do for families and couples, there are plenty of options available. However, if I had to recommend just one thing, I would say take an architecture tour. It's a great way to see the city, and you'll be amazed at the variety of architectural styles that you'll encounter. Happy exploring!
